USER GUIDE · ACCURATE TO v1.3
Everything FibScanner does, and how to drive it.
A trader-to-trader walkthrough of the side panel, the three strategies, every setting, and recipes for tuning it to your style.
NEW SINCE THIS GUIDE WAS LAST REVISED
- A native Windows app. The same engine and licence key outside the browser — download either version.
- A 7-day free trial. All 293 markets and every timeframe for a week, no card. It then reverts to the free tier.
- Fib Level Watch (Pro and above). Pin your own swing and get alerted on reactions off your levels — the job automatic detection can’t do.
- A context-sentiment gauge on every alert. A read of the recent tape telling you whether it’s with or against the setup. Informational only — never a filter, never a probability.
- Charts gained a right-hand price axis and a live price tag, so they read like a real chart.
- Alerts are device-only. They arrive as browser or desktop notifications on your own machine and are never forwarded to any third-party service.
Anatomy of a setup — the impulse, the pullback into the golden zone, and the confirmation at the level, with entry, stop and two targets marked.
01Quick start — 2 minutes
1
Install FibScanner — the Chrome extension from the Web Store, or the Windows app from the download page. In Chrome, click the toolbar icon and the side panel opens.
2
Pick your markets. Each strategy has its own watchlist — click "N/293 markets" to choose. There's a search box and select-all per group.
3
Pick your timeframes. The TF chips (1m → 1M) apply to everything. FibScanner wakes exactly on each bar close — a daily-only watchlist costs nothing all day.
4
Have a licence? ⚙ Settings → Licence → paste your key → Activate. The header chip shows your plan. Without a key you run Free: 1 market, 1 timeframe, the Fib strategy.
5
That's it. When a setup confirms on a closed candle, you get a desktop notification and a card in the panel with the full trade plan drawn on a chart.
THE GOLDEN RULE
FibScanner only ever evaluates closed candles. Signals never repaint, never vanish after the fact, and each setup alerts exactly once per bar.

Live setups
Every setup valid right now, ranked by score. Cards expand into a full chart; click for a full-tab view. Copy plan or share a branded image.
Pattern watch (Elite)
Candlestick pattern notices. Informational only — no entry, no stop, no score.
Recent alerts
The scanner's own ledger. Every alert graded against what happened next: TP1 ✓, SL ✗, or still OPEN — with per-strategy tallies.
Strategies
Toggles + per-strategy watchlists.
Timeframes
Global TF chips, 1m → 1M.
Recent Alerts — the scanner grades its own calls, so the record is yours to see.

04The strategies
STRATEGY 01 · THE CORE
Fib 50% Retracement
1Find the current move — lowest to highest, about one screen of bars. If price claws back more than 61.8% of it, the clawback becomes the move and the ladder is redrawn.
2Draw the fib ladder on that move.
3Only the golden zone signals — 38.2, 50 and 61.8. Never 23.6 or 78.6: a 20% dip near the top isn't a retracement, and a bounce off 78.6 is the move's funeral.
4A decisive reversal candle — hammer, engulfing, shooting star or big doji — must wick one of those lines.
5Entry is a STOP ORDER past that candle — no break, no trade. Unbroken setups expire silently; only triggered trades enter the graded record.
6Stop under the signal candle's spike · TP1 = the next ladder rung · TP2 = the 1.618 extension.
7Direction follows the previous daily candle's colour (green = hunt longs). Switchable.
8Fib runs on 15m and above by default — faster timeframes didn't hold up out-of-sample, so they're an opt-in.
STRATEGY 02 · 4H AND ABOVE
Range Breakout
1Price coils into a tight consolidation (≤ 3.5×ATR wide).
2The boundary is tested at least twice and holds.
3A decisive, full-bodied candle breaks the range.
4Targets are measured moves projected from the range height.
54h and above only — testing showed faster breakouts don't hold up.
Not trend-filtered by default — breakouts are regime-change trades. Opt into a trend filter in Settings if it fits your style.
ELITE · NOTIFIER, NOT A STRATEGY
Candlestick Pattern Watch
A heads-up service: "a decisive pattern just printed" — you decide what it means in your own context. Big engulfings, hammers and shooting stars, and violent dojis, all size-floored against ATR so routine small bars stay silent, each labelled with-trend, against-trend or indecision. Context, not a call.
05Tuning recipes
Fewer, better (default)
Leave everything at defaults — every knob's default is the backtested setting, chosen by evidence.
Quiet swing trader
TFs 4h/1d/1w · raise the minimum score · both strategies, full watchlists. A handful of high-bar alerts per week.
Crypto scalper
TF 15m · crypto watchlist only · lower the score bar. Fib runs 15m+ by default; faster TFs are an explicit opt-in and the hardest environment.
Reversal hunter
Fib direction = Any · patterns direction = Any · watch for against-trend hammers and stars at your own levels.
Index / commodity swing
Those markets are 1h/4h+ by design; TFs 4h/1d fit naturally. 4h candles are session-anchored to match your platform.
Drowning in alerts?
In order: raise min scores → raise the pattern TF floor → trim watchlists. Starving? The reverse, one step at a time.
